LOVED,LOVED,LOVED!!!!

I read all three, I started with Sharp Objects, and I loved the writing. Usually like 90% of the time, I figure the ending in the first third of the book. Not with this author, after reading the first book, she had me sucked in and I had to read the other two as soon and as fast as I could. Not only has the author have a way with words, she can twist the plot 360 degrees, and you are shaking your head with your mouth open wondering how did I miss that! A few chapters down the road she twists it around again, and by the ending of the book, you are still shaking your head with the mouth wide open, going back and rereading chapters. Nope I didn't miss something, she just is that GOOD.

Predictable not this author, VERY few, authors have me second guessing who did what to who! When I read Dark Places, I thought about all different people doing all different things, didn't come close to how the plot was played out. I don't want to give anything away, but each book, was better than the last! So, when I read the last, it really did shock me, and again I second guessed, and went back to see how I missed something. She really is that good of an author, sure there are tons of red herrings, going in different ways. In Gone Girl, and this is reading the first two books one right after the other, I still couldn't believe the ending. I can't praise this author enough, because I enjoyed her books so much, I really can't wait to see what she come out with next. I still can't get over how she works a plot and twists it and the ending is still a surprise.

To see her first few published books this good, I can't wait till to see what she comes up with next. Here's to wishing decades of truly surprising books, I can't wait, because for me if she continues writing this well, I will be buying her books for a long time to come!!

Engaging, psychological murder thrillers, these three novels really get you in the heads of the narrators of each beautifully crafted story. Highly recommend, but not to the faint of heart.

.Things get a bit furry.

I really enjoyed this book. It is very moving. A guy that gets extra furry and very tall, that likes the cold. And a girl that is shy and doesn't like the cold, and seems little bit small. They hit it off from the first. He needs to learn to trust and have faith in love. She needs to learn to love and trust in faith. Together they will be a very strong couple that will lead a unique family group. I hope that there will be more of this family tree. A legend will be explained sort of. People that believe in sightings of an animal that doesn't seem to exist will be entertained. Another success for Amanda Anderson.

Really enjoyed this book! Dex's reveal was very surprising & quite unique. I would have liked it to be a little longer, but it was a good story overall.

When I read this I didn't know if there were or would be additional books, but found there is a 2nd book available too (Something About Alaska) & I will be reading that one as well.

horrible - not worth 2 bucks!!

The writer seems incapable of creating believable dialogue or writing a contraction. There are no "won'ts" or "it's" or "she's". The characters speak as is English is their second language. It's just bad writing. The main couple are a hotel mogul and prince of his shifter people and a research assistsnt at a drug company. I don't believe the author knows what a botanist is, since the word is never used to properly describe the woman's work. They have the vocabularies of tenth graders.

Very Poor Quality Facsimile

I have Anton's edition of Caesar's Gallic Wars and I was looking forward to reading his Cicero. I thought I'd buy a facsimile edition rather than try to find the original, since the original copy of his Caesar that I have is falling apart. The book arrived, but I still have no idea how Anton's Cicero compares to his Caesar. Why? The facsimile published here is quite illegibile. It is very poor quality and splotchy, so that many words cannot be recognized at all. This book is a waste of money.

Bad Advice that doesn't apply

A summary of the book: Memorize your lectures and don't do homework if you aren't graded on it. This ABSOLUTELY DOESN'T APPLY to Science and Engineering majors!! Maybe for biology, but for topics like Chemistry, Physics, Math, And the harder Engineering classes, this absolutely doesn't apply. I'm a second year at UCSD and the 'advice' in this book is what I attempted to do my first year, and what got me horrible grades. It's only when I focused on understanding, and not memorizing, that my grades improved.

For example, for my Multivariable calculus class, to study for the final, I found previous final exams from the past five years. I take my own final and guess what? The problems on there had not popped up on any of the old finals I looked up. If all I did was memorize, I would have done horrible. But its only because I both wrote down the old final problems and did my best to understand them that I got a good grade.

Don't even get me started with Physics. No matter how many problems you memorize, professors will always have different ways to test you on the topic.

The only reason these tips worked for the author is because she wasn't a STEM major.

A Must Read!

This short book will benefit not only students at any level, but all who want to excel in life. Essentially, the book boils down to this: choose the key elements for success and focus on them. For students wanting to show a good grade return for their time/money investment in school, the author says to attend every class and take copious notes. Learn those notes and then regurgitate them on an exam. Sound too simple to be true? Maybe so but, as a college instructor, I always ask test questions based on things I've stressed in my lectures. How does one learn the instructor's notes? Repetition, repetition, repetition is the key. By going over the notes again and again, even a person of average intelligence can make the stuff stick in their brain.

I do think the author could have suggested some review tips for those that just do not know how to effectively review their notes. While I am sure this is not a one-size-fits-all, this is what works for me: (1) memorize all major headings until you can read them off the back of your eyelids; (2) memorize sub-headings under each major heading, moving to the next major heading only after successfully completing the one you're working on. Then review these as you go until you have completely memorized all major headings and their sub-headings. At that point, you should be able to write them all down on a piece of paper in outline form; (3) read the data under each major heading with its sub-headings until you can think your way through the whole major heading, sub-heading by sub-heading. Repeat until you finish all the major headings and their sub-headings. TIP: if you begin this process from day one of the semester, it is not daunting; and the week before your exam you will merely review what you've already learned (what a stress reliever!).

I also liked what the author said about giving up perfectionism. You don't have to be perfect (in fact you can't be perfect), but you can be extremely good--and finished. You may not make all "A's" like the author, but I guarantee her study habits will yield you better grades.
