Pat Mallon took a self-imposed hiatus fromillustrating webcomics and children's books to concentrate on afull-length novel. Seefer Elliot and the World Aside Ours resulted fromthe effort and provides young readers with an adventure that is funny,geeky and full of thrills.

Not quite Percy Jackson or Harry Potter, but a fun read.

I was given a free copy of this book in trade for an honest review.
I am a fan of science fiction and fantasy novels. They allow you to escape reality for awhile and see awesome things through the eyes of the characters. Seefer Elliot does a fine job in providing that escape. I was heavily invested in the main character and the wild adventure he travels on over the course of his very strange day.
I felt there was one major thing missing which made this a 4-star review. The range of settings was limited. When I think fantasy, I want to be whisked away to different worlds or exotic places. This story (billed with an interdimensional title) rarely leaves the school grounds where Seefer attends. Not that it hurt the book, but I felt mislead by the title and genre.
In the end, it was a solid story-arc with engaging characters who are left with room to grow. I hope that any future adventures wonder outside of Seefer's sleepy suburban town.

Seefer Elliot and the World Aside ours by P. Mallon is a science fiction coming of age saga. It is a great story, just complex enough to be interesting, funny and a fast read. Though appropriate for the younger set, without any social propaganda or violence for its own sake, I found the story original enough to hold my interest. The characters are well developed and the plot meshes well with them. I absolutely loved the weapons. This looks to be the beginning of one of those series like the old "Hardy Boys," that you can buy for the grandkid's whenever you feel they need a little distraction.

Seefer Elliot and the World Aside Ours is an entertaining read for a young adult. It plays to my love for fantasy books and is unique in its story line. The characters are well thought out and easy to grow attached to.
The reason I gave this book 4-stars is because Seefer grows into his new "identity" far too quickly. He becomes extremely proficient at his new talent in a matter of hours, and this takes away from the reader's adventure of growing with the character.
Overall, the book has amazing potential. The characters are thoughtful and quirky, while still being believable. A recommended read!
