A real Winner!

I just wanted to say that this book, LEGACY, has been honored by WALDENBOOKS. At the RWA Conference on August 1, 1998 LEGACY received the award for the Bestselling Multicultural Romance of 1997. Needless to say, the author is thrilled.

Good Book!!

I really enjoyed this one! Again the author shows her writing talent. Erika must have had some type of healing power because Michael does a complete 180 again to be with the one woman that made him see all that he was missing in his life. I guess Erika wanted a man that could face his problems head on, Michael ended up fitting the bill! Go get a copy!

Romance and intrigue and big fancy houses
Murderous villains with morals of louses

In Legacy, Shirley Hailstock has provided many of my favorite things, first and foremost a well-written book that kept me riveted long past my bedtime.
Erica St. James and Michael Lawrence have only one thing in common—they must, in order to inherit Carter Lipton-Graves’s vast empire, run it together and live in the same house, also together, for one year. It’s a large house and Erica’s sure it won’t be a problem. She desperately wants to continue her work as CEO of Graves Enterprises, which she has helped grow. Unfortunately, she can’t do it unless Michael agrees to join her. He wants, with equal desperation, to remain hidden on his mountain far from the world and the pain it brought him. However, if either of them defaults, almost the entirety of Carter’s estate will go to a defense fund for Frank Mason, a man Michael knows to be a homicidal maniac—his reason for having turned his back on the world.
Mason, whom Michael once believed in and successfully defended in a custody battle, subsequently and very publicly shot his three children to death. Michael testified against his former client at the murder trial and saw Mason sentenced to life in a secure facility for the criminally insane before he took himself off to his mountain, which he has vowed never to leave. But he must, because he knows that, with the amount of money Mason stands to inherit should Michael continue to refuse, the murderer will buy his way to freedom. That, he cannot permit. The man’s a very believable psychopath.
Erika and Michael both try hard to resist their mutual attraction, she because she’s a once-burned, twice-shy survivor of an engagement that ended much too publicly, he because he feels unworthy and incapable of adapting again to life in the world of law and big business. Despite themselves, they’ve just begun to fall in love when they learn Mason’s escaped from custody and is on a murder spree, wiping out those he feels have wronged him… Michael among them, and everyone he loves.
This time, Michael must win the battle of wits against Mason, but how can he possibly outwit a mad-man bent on mayhem?
