About the Author
Andrew M. Pomerantz, PhD, is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Clinical Adult Psychology Graduate Program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses related to clinical psychology. He also maintains a part-time private practice of clinical psychology in St. Louis, MO. He earned his B. A. in psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, and his M. A. and Ph. D. in clinical psychology from Saint Louis University. He completed his predoctoral internship at Indiana University School of Medicine Psychology Training Consortium. He is the author of Clinical Psychology: Science, Practice, and Culture (Sage, 2008) and Psychological Assessment and Report Writing (with Karen Goldfinger; Sage, 2010). He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Psychology, and has published articles in numerous professional journals including Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, Teaching of Psychology, Ethics & Behavior, and Training and Education in Professional Psychology. His primary research interests include psychotherapy and ethical/professional issues in clinical psychology. He served two terms as president of Psychotherapy Saint Louis and is a member of the American Psychological Association.

Foundational overview of Clinical Psychology

Clinical Psychology: Science, Practice, and Culture can be best described as a foundational textbook, introducing various topics and concepts relating to the field of clinical psychology. The text addresses both the modern approaches and the historical background that form clinical psychology as a multidimensional field, constructed of diverse techniques, approaches, theories, and perspectives for understanding, nourishing, and healing the human psyche. Chapters feature information on various aspects of the field ranging from the road to becoming a clinical psychologist to ethics, values, and concepts connected with engaging in clinical practice. This title is designed to supply the basic materials that are usually covered in an introductory clinical psychology course, and cover only the surface of various key topics relating to the subject. I enjoyed reading the chapters in conjunction with the lectured material in my introductory clinical psychology course primarily because the book was able to further delve into the concepts and ideas presented in class.

listed as book with a cd but there is none

id give it 5 but no cd as listed. this edition is almost the same as the current one. I still got a great bargain compared to the newest edition. this is written for college level intro to clinical psych. needed a copyy to aid me in my current clinical Psych, class with kaplan online. amazon is now aware of this issue as they sent me a second copy with both parties hoping to see the cd. A great customer service and a refund for this problem. if they do find a cd for it those who are want to add comment after this mentioning any updates will be great

Clear, Balanced, and Comprehensive

I love this book by Dr. Andrew Pomerantz. He's obviously a good writer as his writing is clear and he conveys information in a way that is balanced and reasonable. He presents alternative perspectives on many issues and by doing so helps readers learn from the dialectic or tension between these perspectives. This text is a great foundation for students who are interested in developing their identities as clinical psychologists.
