A MARCH OF KINGS takes us one step further on Thor's epic journey into manhood, as he begins to realize more about who he is, what his powers are, and as he embarks to become a warrior.
After he escapes from the dungeon, Thor is horrified to learn of another assassination attempt on King MacGil. When MacGil dies, the kingdom is set into turmoil. As everyone vies for the throne, King's Court is more rife than ever with its family dramas, power struggles, ambitions, jealousy, violence and betrayal. An heir must be chosen from among the children, and the ancient Dynasty Sword, the source of all their power, will have a chance to be wielded by someone new. But all this might be upended: the murder weapon is recovered, and the noose tightens on finding the assassin. Simultaneously, the MacGils face a new threat by the McClouds, who are set to attack again from within the Ring.
Thor fights to win back Gwendolyn's love, but there may not be time: he is told to pack up, to prepare with his brothers in arms for The Hundred, a hundred grueling days of hell that all Legion members must survive. The Legion will have to cross the Canyon, beyond the protection of the Ring, into the Wilds, and set sail across the Tartuvian Sea for the Isle of Mist, said to be patrolled by a dragon, for their initiation into manhood.
Will they make it back? Will the Ring survive in their absence? And will Thor finally learn the secret of his destiny?
With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, A MARCH OF KINGS is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

Poorly written and predictable
By autumn
I read this series to pass the time and make myself sleepy before bed, that is all! The characters are weak and the writer likes to go on an on repeating obvious things. I often skip over redundant lamentations of a character. Thor loves Gwen. Thor can't handle the thought of Gwen hating him. How can Thor live with himself if Gwen thinks he's a peasant. Thor wonders if Gwen ever really cared. We get it, no need to carry on and on (as I have purposely done in this ridiculous review). He does this with all of the characters. I agree with other reviewers that Rice is just milking his lame story for all he can. Truth is, if he spent half as much time developing meaningful characters and a solid storyline as he does dragging it out repeating himself then I might actually pay more than $3 for his books. It's $3, and not even worth that but it passes the time.

Very disappointing
By M
I was excited to read this series, based on previous reviews and on Amazon's recommending it to me. However, I found nothing redeeming about it. The writing was awkward (does the author even know what a sneer is? She consistently used the word in appropriately.). The characters were inconsistent (Is the queen a positive character? A negative one?), and behaved inexplicably (so why is the queen against the main character? we never find out.). Plot elements were borrowed freely from other series (e.g., Band of Brothers); the weirdest borrowing was the use of obscure stories from the Old Testament. Some scenes were age-inappropriate (seriously, do you have to describe the rape in that kind of detail to an audience who are developmentally at a stage where their sexuality is developing and being shaped by their experiences?). I wanted to finish the series, just to get some closure on the plot. But halfway through the third book, I got so fed up that I did something I almost never do: I just put down the book and walked away.

Complete And Utter Rubbish...
By AlaynaSky
I had forgotten about Morgan Rice for a bit. This is that same author that puts out all these crap books filled to the brim with mistakes, typos and discrepancies with the numbers, dates and names of her/his characters.
I cannot fathom how this person has made it onto any top list as an indie writer because her/his work is just that bad.
It's like a 5th grader has written this stuff and a teacher hasn't gone through it yet to give the student a big fat "F" in a bright red marker.
Ms/Mr. Rice...EDIT YOUR STUPID BOOKS. They are a horrible, disastrous mess. Learn what a semicolon is, and use them when needed. Stop screwing up references with dates and times. Learn how to spell. Save up your allowance and pay for an editor.
I got through....oh......4 pages of seeing mistakes when the light went on and I thought..."Oh yeah, this is the same person who I blasted way back when she/he would say something happened some 800 years ago, then in the next chapter it changed to 600 and so forth. Just awful, awful and more of awful. 10 minutes of my life gone and I'll never get it back. Had this been a paperback, it would have sailed clear across the room.
This is a person whose 5-star ratings either come from close friends and family who don't want to hurt her/his feelings, or people that think hundreds of typos and mistakes are "cute."
I'm tired of Amazon suggesting this person's books to me in adverts here on the site. This is not an author; this is a person that should not be writing whatsoever. Not once, has Ms/Mr. Rice read though her/his very low ratings and thought, "You know? I want to be the best I can be so, I will scrape up some money, hire a professional editor and stop making my vampire characters turn out to be Jesus Christ."
You would think. Nope.
Didn't happen.
The only thing I can think of is folks are confusing her or him with Anne Rice, or maybe thinking this is a relative of Anne's. I choose to believe there's a rational explanation for people who willingly read this garbage.
