Why?

Please hear me out, because I understand that I am clearly in a minority here but I just can't seem to understand why this book has so many good reviews. Isabella seems to be way too innocent for my liking, and there was even a part where she seemed ashamed of her mother because of Berkeley's wealth. Really?
Also, the similarities to Fifty Shades are just ridiculous: young inexperienced woman, rich, powerful, and dominant male; the unexpected gifts and payment for extravagant things; the contract that was her signing her rights to him in a different form; the "need for control because of my past" reoccurring theme; Isabella's constant inner monologue of whether or not she could live with his desires and it goes on and on...
Towards the end, I almost put the book down and was honestly struggling to finish it. I also couldn't establish a connection with Berkeley. He seemed so stoic most of the time. I never felt their chemistry, and it all seemed purely forced. Perhaps that is where my prejudice of the book stems from.
The good thing about this book is that it was well written...but the story line itself just lacked.

Ended too soon!

Enjoyed this very much - but I'm getting more and more frustrated with authors dragging out the stories into multiple books. This ended abruptly without much of a cliffhanger. Way too many open issues unresolved for the first book in a series.

LOVED IT

I have a stressful life, as I'm sure most of you do. With that being said......reading is my therapy, it relaxes me, calms the chaos, and I get re-fueled through taking the time to read to then move forward with every day life.
Therefore, I am very picky about the books I choose to read, because I hate wasting time on a book that either isn't well written, or that the story line just isn't interesting enough to keep me going. This was not the case! I loved it!! I couldn't put it down, hardly slept that night because I couldn't find a spot in the book that I would want to pause and come back to it later. I had to finish it out, and frantically looked for the release date of The Berkeley Method because I wanted to see what happened next.
JS is amazing and I look forward to reading all of her books!
